A Manchester United star who feels he has unfairly become a "scapegoat" at the club has hit back at manager Erik ten Hag's recent criticism of him.
Winger Jadon Sancho has released a statement in which he claimed the United boss's explanation for why the 23-year-old had been dropped for their match on the weekend were "untrue".

Speaking after his side's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, Ten Hag made an effort to justify Sancho's exclusion from the side on the day.
"You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line," the manager said, as per The Telegraph.
"So for this game he was not selected."

Sancho, however, hit back at that criticism, taking to social media to launch a statement and defend his name.
"Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue," he wrote on Twitter.
"I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I have been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn't fair!
"All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
"I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and [I'm] grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.
"I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"

Sancho made the £72.9 million (R1.7 billion) move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but has since struggled to feature as a regular starter for the Red Devils, making 82 appearances for the club to date.
