His fate is subject to an ongoing internal investigation by the Red Devils after charges of attempt rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against him were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February this year.
In the months that followed, United have maintained their silence on the matter, but late in May, manager Erik ten Hag finally spoke of the young striker, insisting that his return to the squad was not his decision as the head coach of the team.
The Dutchman's comments were immediately followed by reports that the side's commercial partners and the women's team would need to reach a unanimous decision in order to reintegrate Greenwood to the squad.
