The defensive midfielder is claimed to have attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as other teams around Europe.
However, United are seemingly the side closest to securing the Malian player's services, with the 20-time EPL winners believed to view him as a future first-team option.
It has been said that manager Erik ten Hag has been looking to strengthen the number six position in the team, but it is believed that, should the transfer be completed, Kone will first be integrated into the U21 side to help him properly adjust to life in England.
The club is suggested to anticipate that the starlet will experience a radical cultural shift and are looking to take a steady approach in helping him find his feet on new shores.
The teenager played for Mali at U17 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, helping them reach the semi-finals of the competition where they suffered defeat to Morocco, losing the encounter on penalties.
He also represented and impressed for his nation at the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup. There, the midfielder and his compatriots once more reached the semi-finals, but were beaten 2-1 by France. Kone contributed with two assists at that tournament.
