Man Utd 'agree terms' with Chelsea star

Manchester United have now reportedly reached an agreement to sign a highly sought-after Chelsea star.

The Blues have already begun their efforts to reduce the size of their bloated squad, with it being confirmed earlier this week that Joao Felix has no future at the west London club and will now return to parent team Atletico Madrid following his six-month loan spell in Stamford Bridge.

It has been reported that another loanee, Denis Zakaria, will also not be a part of new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino's plans and that the manager has decided to pass on the opportunity to sign him on a permanent deal from Juventus.

It now appears that a third exit is imminent, although this time it looks to be a permanent transfer of one of the club's first-team regulars.

According to The Guardian, United have agreed personal terms with Chelsea's Mason Mount.

The England international, who has one year remaining on his active deal, is now expected leave his current side after being engaged in lengthy contract talks with Todd Boehly and company, with no success in finding a solution that satisfies both parties.

The Red Devils are said have made a better offer to the player that that made by the Blues, and will pay more than £60 million (R1.4 billion) to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.

United manager Erik ten Hag is understood to be a huge admirer of Mount's dynamism and athleticism in the middle of the park, with his pressing and versatility also appreciated by the Dutchman.

Pochettino, meanwhile, wants to keep the playmaker, but it is further claimed that several United players are already expecting to play alongside Mount in the 2023/24 campaign.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool were also believed to be interested in the 24-year-old's services, while one of Mount's current teammates, Mateo Kovacic, could also be on the verge of joining a rival Premier League club  Manchester City in his case  amid Chelsea's overhaul under their newly appointed head coach.
