Ten Hag makes U-turn on Sancho

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly made a U-turn regarding Jadon Sancho following the winger's return from individual training.

The Englishman underwent an individual training programme in the Netherlands for more than a month recently, with his manager Ten Hag claiming that the 22-year-old was not in the right physical or mental shape to return the team.

Despite returning to England earlier in January, the footballer still trained by himself for a couple weeks.

However, on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Sancho had finally returned to first-team training with the Red Devils.

Following the former Borussia Dortmund star's reunion with his teammates, it was suggested that he could feature against Arsenal on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, however, United have decided they will not be rushing the forward back into action just yet.

The club is said to feel that, with games coming thick and fast, Sancho still needs to get match-fit.

The decision to delay the winger's return is a surprise, though, as Ten Hag had said earlier in January that the team needs Sancho back "as fast as possible".

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the Manchester club's clash against the Gunners, the Dutchman confirmed that Sancho's return will be delayed.

"He is making the next step," the Dutch coach said, per the Daily Mirror.

"It is true, [Tuesday] was his first day at team training but team training is the final day before the game.

"So we will extend that in the coming days, the coming week and go step by step."
