Man Utd 'chasing' new African star

Manchester United have now reportedly opened talks to sign a new African star.

The Red Devils recently sealed the transfers of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Leny Yoro from Lille ahead of the 2024/25 season.

With the Manchester club having raised some funds through the sales of Willy Kambwala, Donny van de Beek, Alvaro Fernandez Carreras and Mason Greenwood, reports suggest that more arrivals at Old Trafford are imminent.

United are linked with Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, as well as Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain.

Perhaps surprisingly, though, the EPL giants are now said to have made an approach for another Bayern player.

According to Sky Sports Germany, United have opened talks to sign fullback Noussair Mazraoui from the Bundesliga giants.

The Morocco international previously worked with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam, and the pair could now be set for a reunion at the Theatre of Dreams, with the Bavarians believed to be open to selling the defender for a fee of €25 million (R499 million).

It is further claimed, though, that United and West Ham United, who are another interested party, feel that a more realistic fee for his services would be between €15 million and €20 million (R299 million and R399 million).

A regular for his national team, Mazraoui made 29 appearances across all competitions for Bayern last season, and registered four assists in the process.

There are also reports that United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be leaving the Theatre of Dreams in this window, with the Englishman having been linked with teams in the Premier League and in Turkey in recent weeks.

His departure would avail a spot at United for Mazraoui, who would compete for a starting berth with current first-choice right-back Diogo Dalot.
