The full-back was reportedly close to joining West Ham United until talks broke down over the agent's fee.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Red Devils are in talks with the agent of the Moroccan, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
However, Romano did add that everything will depend on Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future as the full-back is wanted by Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Ten Hag has revealed that he wants the team to have depth going into the new season.
"I want the squad as strong as possible," the coach said at a press conference on Friday.
"We already made two very good buys so when everyone is fit we have a team that can beat everyone. But with squad depth we need to catch up because we had injuries. This season will be survival of the fittest."
He added: "We are looking in all the positions to reinforce. We need a plan with the squad to make sure we are occupied in every area."
