Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is now reportedly pleading for a delay as his nation prepares for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Onana had initially retired from international football following a spat with manager Rigobert Song and president of the Cameroonian Football Federation Samuel Eto'o at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

However, in September this year, Onana made a shock return to the international set-up in an attempt to help his nation qualify for the upcoming tournament, which they did.
Following their qualification, it was uncertain whether or not the former Inter Milan shot-stopper would represent Cameroon at the next AFCON, but his inclusion in the Indomitable Lions' 27-man squad confirmed he will be representing his nation at Africa's showpiece competition.
According to ESPN, however, the 27-year-old is now in talks with the Cameroon FA in the hopes of meeting up with the camp at a later date compared to the rest of his national teammates in order to spend as little time away from United as possible.
The Indomitable Lions are using Saudi Arabia as their base of operations for their tournament preparations, with a friendly fixture against Zambia lined up for 9 January.
Onana, though, is said to want to participate in the Red Devils' FA Cup third-round tie against Wigan Athletic that takes place just one day before his national side's encounter with Zambia.

With AFCON 2023 set to run from 13 January to 11 February, the goalkeeper could miss four of United's upcoming Premier League fixtures and a potential fourth-round FA Cup tie if the Red Devils are able to overcome Wigan.
