Man Utd loanee BANNED for 'kung fu kick'

A Manchester United star who is out on loan for the season has now received a seven-game ban for a recent horror tackle he made.

Eric Bailly, who is spending the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Olympique Marseille, was shown a red card just 15 minutes into his side's Coupe de France tie with fourth-tier team Hyeres two weeks ago.

There was no protest from the Ivorian, who had mistimed an attempt to reach a bouncing ball and mistakenly planted his studs into Almike Moussa N'Diaye's chest in what looked something from a kung fu movie.

N'Diaye was floored and needed treatment before he was stretchered off and taken to hospital in an ambulance for precautionary checks.

Now, according French publication La Provence, the Ivory Coast star has been issued a seven-match ban for the incident.

The 28-year-old is said to have already served two games for the suspension, having been forced to sit out Marseille's matches against ES Troyes and FC Lorient.

Bailly will now miss his club's match with Rennes tomorrow, as well as their Ligue 1 clashes against AS Monaco, Nantes, OGC Nice and Clermont Foot.

According to Le Parisien, N'Diaye suffered broken ribs from the horror challenge, as well as some lung and liver pain.

Bailly visited the injured footballer in hospital and apologised for the incident. N'Diaye is now back home but will need several months to recover.

The horrific incident has been likened by some to Eric Cantona's infamous kung fu kick on a Crystal Palace fan back in 1995.
