Manchester United have now reportedly made a decision on signing a highly coveted striker said to be worth €50 million (R986 million).
Following a lacklustre 2023/24 campaign, the Red Devils have spent heavily in the current window, with the club splashing a whopping €164.5 million (R3.2 billion) on the arrivals of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.

Reports suggest that the club is not done in the market either, with it said they are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte too.
More recently, United have been linked with Brentford talisman Ivan Toney, who is now in the final year of his contract with the Bees.
However, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the English giants have decided they will not make a move for the England striker just yet.
United are said to be content with their forward options of Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, while a player like Marcus Rashford can also play in that role, although it is further claimed they could yet make a move for Toney, who is currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt, ahead of or on deadline day.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli reportedly had a £35 million (R806 million) offer for Toney rejected last week, and it is believed they could make an improved bid.
To date, Toney has made 141 appearances for the Bees, registering a formidable 72 goals and 23 assists.
Interestingly, the centre-forward was left out of Brentford's 2024/25 Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on the weekend due to speculation around his future.
"I think Ivan is a top player," manager Thomas Frank said, according to the BBC.
"He has been a top player and one of our best players if not the best player over a long spell.
"All the top players in the Premier League, one day they will leave the club and someone will have to step up and do well."
