Man Utd 'reserve No. 7 shirt' for €150m Real Madrid star

Manchester United are reportedly reserving their iconic No. 7 shirt for a €150 million (R3.1 billion) Real Madrid star.

With the 2022/23 Premier League season wrapped up and an FA Cup final still to go, United appear to have turned their attention to reinforcing their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

It is believed the Mancunians want to bolster their defence, midfield and frontline, which has seen the club being linked with several big-name players, including Harry Kane, Kim Min-Jae, Mason Mount, and even Neymar.

However, despite the prospect of the aforementioned arrivals, United are now said to keeping their iconic No. 7 shirt, which has been worn by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, aside for a particular Real star.

According to Football365, the jersey number has been specially set aside for Los Blancos winger Vinicius Junior, amid recent suggestions that he could leave LaLiga following the racial attacks he has been subjected to this season, with the Brazilian taking to social media to say that Spain "belongs to racists" following unsavoury monkey chants aimed at him during a game against Valencia on 21 May.

While it has been reported that the 22-year-old does not intend to leave Real any time soon, that situation could change if serious action is not taken to curb the racism aimed towards him after he previously suffered similar incidents.

It is further claimed that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on the Selecao's attacker situation in Madrid with a view to pouncing if the opportunity arises, with the latter also said to be willing to offer €150 million to secure his signature.

United's No. 7 remains vacant at Old Trafford following Ronaldo's abrupt departure from the club in November 2022.
