Man Utd set to hijack Euro giants' deal for EPL star?

Manchester United are now reportedly working to hijack a European giants' deal for a Premier League star.

Reports last week suggested that Bayern Munich had agreed a deal for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, but speculation surrounding the transfer has arisen as the forward has not yet completed a medical for the Bavarians.

With the Red Devils believed to be huge admirers of the 22-year-old, the player is also said to fit the philosophy new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to implement at Old Trafford – acquiring young players with high potential.

As such, the 20-time EPL winners are attempting to hijack Olise's deal with Bayern before it becomes official, according to transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg.

It seems, however, it will be a tough task for Erik ten Hag's side to try to lure the Frenchman to the Theatre of Dreams with it claimed the Frenchman remains keen on a move to Germany.

"[I have] been told that the transfer of Michael Olise to FC Bayern is not in jeopardy at this stage," Plettenberg wrote on X.

"Because many clubs are trying to hijack the transfer, including Manchester United. But Olise remains clear as he wants to sign a contract with Bayern until 2029.

"There are still small details to be clarified between the clubs. The medical was actually supposed to take place this week. Now it is planned for the coming week!"

With Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho seemingly preparing to leave United, it is believed Ratcliffe is eager to bring in players who could replace the pair and provide competition to the wide players already in their ranks, such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo.

Olise, who spent a large portion of the 2023/24 campaign sitting on the sidelines due to hamstring injuries, still managed to make a good impression by amassing 10 goals and six assists in just 19 league appearances for the Eagles.
