Man Utd identify replacement for Ronaldo - report

Manchester United have reportedly identified a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo if he decides to leave the club during the January transfer window.

Ronaldo was heavily linked with a departure in the last transfer window after the Red Devils finished out the UEFA Champions League spots last season.

Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich were among the sides linked with the 37-year-old, but there were reportedly no offers for the player despite Erik ten Hag claiming he was in the plans for the season.

Ronaldo has seen more game time in recent weeks, but his future remains unclear as his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

United could cash in on Ronaldo's services in January and if he does leave Old Trafford,  Mundo Deportivo have reported that the club could make a  move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Toney has been impressive for Brentford this season after scoring eight goals in his opening 11 games, which has also earned a call-up to the England national side.

However, the Mirror have reported that the Bees want to give the 26-year-old a new deal in the hope of fending off interest from the bigger clubs, including the Red Devils.

The report adds that Brentford are keen on offering Toney new deal that will see him earn salary in the north of six figures.
