With Ruben Amorim set to join Manchester United later this month, a Sporting CP star has stated that the club no longer needs him.
The Portuguese tactician agreed terms to replace Erik ten Hag as the Red Devils' new permanent manager, and will officially begin his new role on Monday 11 November.

Having won the Primeira Liga twice since being appointed by Sporting in 2020, the 39-year-old is considered by many to be among the football world's most exciting young managers.
The Portuguese club's captain, Morten Hjulmand, said that Amorim's style of management is unlike anything he had witnessed before.
While the midfielder admitted to being sad about the coach's upcoming departure, he is relishing the test of trying to retain the league title without the former SC Braga boss.
"I see it as a positive challenge to try to be champions without Ruben, which is the main objective of this season," Hjulmand said per GOAL.
"Life goes on and we want to show that we no longer need him. It was difficult for me to know that he is leaving. I was sad.
"That he was going to leave me too. But in football, opportunities like these happen to players and coaches. It's part of football and I hope Ruben is proud to receive an offer of this kind.
"Ruben was one of the reasons why I came to Sporting," he added.
"When you are coached by him, you get a clear idea of the way he sees football and how he sees us being part of the team.
"It's a very important image for the player, to know what his role is, what he can contribute to the team.
"It was very important when I joined Sporting. The way he sees the players, how he manages the team on and off the field... It's something I've never seen in my career.
"Manchester United will be in good hands with Ruben."

Amorim, meanwhile, will take charge of two more matches before parting ways with his current club, with his next encounter being a UEFA Champions League clash with future domestic rivals Manchester City.
The tactician will then face former club SC Braga before making his way to Old Trafford for a new challenge.
