Ten Hag makes big midfield transfer 'request' at Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has now reportedly asked the Manchester United hierarchy to sign a certain midfielder who featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in December.

With the Red Devils now just two wins away from securing a spot in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League, the club is now believed to be preparing for a busy off-season.

Ten Hag is understood to be set to get the ball rolling in moulding his side to his liking, with several potential signings having reportedly already been identified, including defenders and midfielders.

Understood to be heavily involved in the recruitment process at Old Trafford, the 53-year-old has a number of players he wants signed up, including Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong and FC Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen.

The former Ajax Amsterdam boss has now reportedly informed the club of the next player on his wish list as he looks to reinforce his injury-ridden midfield, and according to French newspaper L'Equipe, that player is Juventus and France star Adrien Rabiot.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with the Les Bleus midfielder at the beginning of the season, but a deal never materialised, with reports suggesting that negotiations broke down due to differences in salary expectations.

United are said to have once again made contact with the former Paris Saint-Germain star with a view to signing him as a free agent, with his current deal in Turin expiring at the end of June.

It is further claimed Ten Hag himself has spoken to Rabiot in recent weeks in a bid to convince the player of a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
