Ancelotti hits back at ex-Barca star in verbal warfare

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has now hit back at a former Barcelona star as the pair engage in verbal warfare of sorts.

The Italian tactician has retaliated to remarks made by Gerard Pique, who reportedly told RAC1 that the Madrid giants' 2021/22 UEFA Champions League triumph "will never be remembered".

"Real Madrid transmit little but they get results and in February, they will be alive in all competitions," the retired defender said earlier this week.

"They have won 13 or 14 Champions Leagues, but when we win, it is remembered forever.

"The last Champions League they won was a miracle because they were inferior in every stage and in the final, and it will never be remembered."

In that final, a 59th minute goal by Vinicius Junior was enough for Real to see off a persistent Liverpool side that had registered 24 shots, of which nine were on target, to claim their record 14th UCL title, and according to Ancelotti, the club's fans will cherish those memories forever.

"Pique lives in his world, which is not that of Real Madrid," the Italian tactician said at a press conference, per GOAL.

"I can assure you that there is not a single Real Madrid fan who can forget the 14th [UCL title].

"It will be a Champions League that will be remembered for life."
