Barcelona star: Real Madrid will not start well with Mbappe

One of Barcelona's biggest stars believes his side's bitter rivals Real Madrid will not start well with the addition of Kylian Mbappe next season.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner appears destined to join Los Blancos when his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of June.

With the addition of the France international, Real's predicted attacking combination of him, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior looks as though it would pose a threat to any defence it faces.

However, Barca star Robert Lewandowski seemingly believes otherwise.

When the 35-year-old was asked about the threat the trio would carry during an interview with Marca, the attacker insisted that things would not click for them from the get-go.

"It's not official yet [Mbappe joining Real], but it seems that all roads lead to Real Madrid," the forward said.

"Fear? No, of course, he is an incredible player and if he goes to Real Madrid, it will be a very strong team. But our mentality has to be that no matter how good players you have, if we are a team and work together, we can beat you.

"We have to be ready from the first game and the first minutes because Real Madrid will surely need time.

"They will not play well at the beginning and lose points, and we have to take advantage of it.

"Not to catch them, but to be ahead of them.

"Like two seasons ago, in which there were games that we couldn't win, but that we didn't lose."

The Blaugrana will be hoping to end the season off on a high note when they take on Sevilla in what will be their final LALIGA encounter of the 2023/24 season on Sunday.

Lewandowski and the rest of the side will finish the current campaign in second place behind arch-rivals Real, but will be eager to mount a better title challenge when the new season kicks off.
