Benchwarming Hazard 'makes call' on new Real exit offers

Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard has reportedly made a surprise call on his future after receiving offers to move away from the Spanish capital.

The 32-year-old is widely considered to be one of the worst Los Blancos signings in recent years, having featured in just 76 matches in almost four years at the Santiago Bernabeu after his club record €115 million (R2.3 billion) transfer from Chelsea in 2019.

While injuries and weight issue were a recurring occurrence in his first two seasons in Madrid, the Belgian has since gone on to become a regular fixture on the bench, with manager Carlo Ancelotti seemingly having given up on his abilities as he has granted him just nine starts in LaLiga since the beginning of last season

One of those starts came this past weekend, when he played 61 minutes in a 1-0 win over Getafe, although it is understood that Ancelotti had chosen to rest a few players ahead of the second leg of their crunch UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

With the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Marco Asensio all above Hazard in the pecking order, the attacker's chances of getting regular minutes under the Italian boss look very slim.

As such, the Spanish giants are reportedly keen to get his reported wages of €600 900 (R12.4 million) a week before tax off the books, with the No. 7 still the highest-paid player in the team, according to Capology.

However, it seems Hazard remains resolute about staying at the Bernabeu despite his significantly reduced role in the side.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the former Lille winger has turned down an approach from Major League Soccer outfit Montreal Impact as well as several offers from Saudi Arabian clubs in order to stay in Spain.

It is understood the two-time Premier League winner wants to see out the remainder of his contract, which runs until June 2024, in Madrid.

Los Blancos, on the other hand, are said to be looking to sell him for as little as €30 million (R623 million), and have reportedly also identified France winger Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen as his replacement.

It is believed Hazard is comfortable with his family's life in the Spanish capital, with his son having also joined Real's youth ranks.
