Ancelotti planning big change to 'unlock' Mbappe

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly planning to make a major change in order to get the best out of Kylian Mbappe.

The French forward has been finding the back of the net for Los Blancos recently, but the team's performances has been less than convincing.

There has been some criticism about Mbappe and Vinicius not tracking back, which could damage the team in the long run.

As a result, L'Equipe have reported that Ancelotti is now considering dropping Rodrygo so Mbappe could play out wide in his more natural role.

The change would also Ancelotti bring in another midfielder which will help with the defensive duties, allowing Mbappe to focus more on his attacking duties.

Ahead of Saturday's clash against Espanyol in Madrid, Ancelotti spoke about the defensive duties of his attacking trio.

"The team's objective is to be compact. If Vini, Kylian and Rodrygo press high and the midfielders don't go up and the defence don't go up, it's not  their problem", Ancelott said, as per Marca.

"I'm not saying they have to defend more, but we have to get a closer in distances to the midfield. I understand you think there's a lack of balance, because the three up front 'aren't working', but that's not the case."
