Ex-Real chief questions Ronaldo's Al Nassr switch

A former Real Madrid president has now questioned Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Saudi Arabia, insisting that the Portuguese superstar left Europe "two or three years" to soon.

Ronaldo appears to be finally adjusting to life in the Middle East after netting four goals against Al Wehda last Thursday.

After failing to score in his first two games for Al Nassr, the 38-year-old now has five goals in four appearances across all competitions for his new employers.

Unsurprisingly, the move has been the subject of a lot of media attention, with many continuing to weigh in on the striker's decision to leave Europe at the time he did.

Former Real president Ramon Calderon is one of the latest to comment on the transfer, suggesting that Ronaldo's decision to go to Saudi Arabia came too soon.

"I would have liked him to play two or three more years in the top leagues. I think he's still fit, in good shape," Calderon told GB News.

"He's been a player that has taken care of himself very well for all of his career.

"But I suppose he thought that this is a good option, so I wish him the best, as to all the players that have been playing with us."

Also weighing in on the "greatest player of all time" debate, Calderon added: "Both are different players, but I like both.

"I think we've been lucky, the people who love football, I think we've been lucky having those players playing at the same time in different teams.

"For them and for the clubs that they've been playing for, it's been fantastic. So, amazing players, and let's hope that many like them can come afterwards."

Meanwhile, Al Nassr boss Rudi Garcia has already tipped the former Manchester United talisman to return to Europe before hanging up his boots.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is a positive addition, as he helps to disperse defenders," he said late in January, according to Eurosport.

"He is one of the best players in the world.

"He will not finish his career at Al Nassr, he will return to Europe."
