Pochettino responds to links with Real & Man Utd

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has responded to the links with Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The Argentine tactician remains a free agent after parting ways with PSG at the end of last season despite guiding the side to the Ligue 1 title.

Pochettino was linked with the Red Devils job before Erik ten Hag was appointed at the end of last season, while his name has also previously been linked with the reigning European champions.

"Soccer is 'timing'. These are the moments for it to coincide and for that marriage to happen. Sometimes it's just a question of time. I don't believe in trains passing only once. I think that sometimes you have to have the necessary patience and you have to know how to wait," Pochettino told Marca when asked about Real and United.

He continued: "The 'timing' is handled by football, it is true that my name has always been associated with big clubs. I have a lot of respect for professionals and it's hard for me to sell myself, that's work for you."

Pochettino also revealed to the Athletic that he is open to anything when asked about the England job.

"Their mentality, they are so brave, they are so offensive, they go to provoke the opponent and try to dominate,'' the Murphy-born coach said when asked on why he considers England among the teams vying for the prestigious trophy.

"They don't care about the team that is in front (of them). They try to deliver their job. I like how they approach the game, and they have very good players.

"Of course, my relationship with England has always been very good.

"We have a very good relationship with the academies, trying to develop young players for the national team. I feel so comfortable here. You never know what happens. I am open to everything."
