Hat-trick hero Benzema equals 60-year ElClasico record

Karim Benzema etched his name into the history books during ElClasico on Wednesday night after scoring a hat-trick in Real Madrid's 4-0 win away at Barcelona.

The Frenchman scored three goals and got one assist to help his side progress to the Copa del Ray final.

Benzema's 2022/23 campaign started off slowly after the player was kept on the sidelines due to numerous injuries, resulting in the striker having to miss out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December.

However, since the turn of the year, he has been in scintillating form having scored the most goals in Europe's top five leagues.

Benzema's triple has also resulted in the player becoming just the second Los Blancos star to record a trio of goals at Camp Nou after Ferenc Puskas in 1963, as per Goal.
