Benzema to Mbappe – 'They'll kill you'

Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has issued a warning to Kylian Mbappe, highlighting the pressure that comes with playing for the club.

During his period at Los Blancos, that stretched from 2009 to 2023, the Al Ittihad star amassed 354 goals and 165 assists in 648 appearances, helping the side to a whopping five UEFA Champions League titles.

The 36-year-old also managed to win a Ballon d'Or award while playing for the Spanish giants.

However, the Frenchman also experienced tough times at the club on an individual level and with Mbappe not quite hitting the heights that most expected him to, Benzema has warned his compatriot of the consequences.

The 25-year-old has scored one goal in his last three league matches and was unable to get his name on the scoresheet as Real suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to bitter rivals FC Barcelona towards the end of last month.

"Mbappe knows that there is a lot of pressure at Real Madrid. At Madrid, you go two, three matches without goals, they'll kill you," Benzema said per Sportskeeda.

"You can win the Ballon d'Or and you don't score in three matches after it, the same.

"I think he has to learn to live with this. He has to put on a good impression in matches.

"Every match is a new one, and he has to score goals because they brought him to score goals only."

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that there is some tension within the Los Meringues dressing room, as some players have taken issue with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's lack of defensive contributions.

It has been claimed that some of his teammates feel that the attacker only engages when the ball crosses the midfield line, but they are said to be hopeful that his may change.

Mbappe and his side will be hoping to bounce back from their ElClasico defeat when they take on AC Milan in a UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday night, as they look to defend their status as the reigning continental champions.
