After a goalless first half, Real midfielder Federico Valverde found the back of the net just before the hour mark to give the Spanish outfit the lead.
Mbappe then recorded his first-ever goal for the reigning UCL champions in the 68th minute, netting on his debut to secure victory for his new side.
Speaking after the game, the 25-year-old expressed much delight at the moment he had been waiting so long for.
"It was a great night – I've been waiting for this moment for a long time," the former Paris Saint-Germain star told Movistar, per the BBC.
"To play with this shirt, with this badge, for these fans, it's a gift for me."
The forward then went on to state that he is looking to score as much goals as possible in the 2024/25 campaign to help the side win trophies.
"We are at Real Madrid, we have no limit. If I can score 50, then 50, but the most important thing is winning and improving as a team, because we will win as a team."
The France international also received praise from new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who highlighted how the talisman was able to combine well with his new teammates.
"Mbappe did really well. He adapted well to the team," the Italian tactician told TNT Sports.
"He combined well with Vinícius Jr and with [Jude] Bellingham.
"Of course, we have a lot of quality, but we have to play together and we did that tonight."
