Mbappe's predecessor: He's like a tomato sauce bottle

After finally opening his league account for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe's predecessor at the club has likened the attacker to a tomato sauce bottle.

The France international failed to score in his first three official LALIGA matches for Los Blancos, but broke his duck for his new club when he bagged a brace in their 2-0 victory over Real Betis last weekend.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has previously shown his goalscoring prowess during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, having scored 256 goals in 308 games for Les Parisiens and leading them to six domestic championship triumphs.

The 25-year-old will be expected by many to replicate those numbers, or even improve on them, after joining a fearsome Real attack that also consists of Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo, among others.

Now, the man many considered to have been replaced by the France international at the Santiago Bernabeu, Joselu, has stated that he expects Los Meringues' new talisman to keep finding the back of the net.

"I know what Madrid is like and I know the qualities that Mbappe has, and for me there is no doubt," he said, per Diario AS.

"Mbappe is like a bottle of ketchup. At first you press it and it doesn't come out, but then it all comes out at once.

"He has already scored two goals against Betis and he will continue to score.

"Mbappe will make history at Madrid, he and all those around him."

Joselu spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Real, netting 17 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.

While he was not a regular starter for the star-studded side, his contributions helped Los Blancos to a LALIGA title, a UEFA Champions League triumph, and a Spanish Super Cup.

The striker further stated that it was a campaign he will never forget.

"We won the League, the Champions League and the Super Cup. And also the Nations League and the Euro Cup with the national team.

"For me, it was something incredible. It was a season in which we only lost two games in the whole year.

"What was generated in Madrid was spectacular. For me, it was an unforgettable time."
