Real 'add' another Liverpool star to their wish list

LALIGA giants Real Madrid have reportedly identified another Liverpool star they want to sign next year.

The Reds are already keeping their eye on full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to become a free agent in 2025 as things stand.

Los Blancos have been hit with injuries this season, with both Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao set to miss the rest of the season.

According to FootballTransfers.com, Los Blancos are now considering an approach for Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk is in the same situation as Alexander-Arnold, as he heads into the final six months of his contract with the Premier League giants.

With the uncertainty surrounding Militao and Carval's return, the report also adds that the club are not certain David Alaba can reach the highest level when he returns from his long injury lay-off.

Van Dijk last spoke about his future in October, where he revealed discussions were ongoing about a potential new deal.

"I can say obviously discussions are ongoing, but I don't know, we will see what happens in the future," Van Dijk said, as per Europsport.

"My very full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else. What the future will bring I have no idea at the moment. I can only tell you that discussions have been started up and we will see.

"I feel very good, physically, mentally and I am having fun. Discussions are ongoing with the right people and when it's time to make a decision or whatever, I think you guys [the media] will know it as well.

"But now full commitment and focus is on Liverpool and to be successful this season. So we will see."
