Real Madrid identify Ancelotti replacement?

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly identified a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, whose future remains uncertain.

Despite winning the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga last season, Los Blancos have not been able to replicate that form in the league this campaign as they sit 14 points behind arch-rivals Real Madrid.

The Italian's future at the Santiago Bernabeu is doubtful as the club hierarchy are reportedly not too pleased with their showing in LaLiga, even though the club can still lift the Champions League and Copa del Rey in the next few weeks.

Ancelotti has been linked with the Brazil national team job in recent months, but he has publicly stated that he is happy in the Spanish capital with one year left on his contract.

Should the 63-year-old end up leaving Madrid at the end of the season, Fichajes have reported that the club have identified former Los Blancos star and current Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso.

Alonso has guided Leverkusen to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals while they currently sit sixth on the Bundesliga table.

Meanwhile, Brazil Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues has confimred they have enquired about Ancelotti's services.

"I'm not saying Ancelotti has an offer from us, but we are checking if he wants to come," he told BeIN SPORTS.

"We've a plan A and I say it for the first time honestly. There is no point in hiding this, Ancelotti is our favourite."
