Last week, the French superstar missed a penalty during Real's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, which led to an onslaught of backlash in the Spanish press.

A new report has now seemingly revealed how his teammates feel about the 25-year-old.

According to The Athletic, Mbappe is still respected by his colleagues despite his early struggles at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Moreover, it is said that the club still firmly believes in the player and remains optimistic that he will find his feet.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti was recently quizzed about Mbappe's performances following their game against Liverpool, with the Italian coach calling for patience regarding the situation.

"It has happened many times that forwards have a hard time scoring. There is a medicine which is to be patient. It is a difficult moment for him, especially after missing the penalty. Everyone has to support him.

"He may be a bit lacking in confidence. When things don't go your way, the idea you have to have is to play simple.

"It's a bit like this moment, but you can't judge him for missing a penalty. All players miss penalties.

"He has to keep working well. We have to be patient because he's an extraordinary player."

According to Transfermarkt, Mbappe has made 19 appearances in all competitions so far, registering 10 goals and two assists.
