NEW: Real Madrid 'reveal' plan to sign Liverpool star

Real Madrid have reportedly taken a big step towards signing a certain Liverpool star, whose contract expires next year.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabue as he enters the final six months of his contract at Anfield, while he is also said to be good friends with Los Blancos star Jude Bellingham.

As a result, the England international will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs from 1 January 2025 and sign a pre-contract.

According to talkSPORT, Los Blancos have now informed Liverpool of their desire to sign the Premier League-winning full-back.

The Spanish giant are seemingly only going to sign the player on a free transfer next year, but the reports adds they have informed Liverpool just to be respectful.

However, former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson believes his former team will be fine following the emergence of young Conor Bradley.

"Conor Bradley has done well, and that's because he's playing with plenty of freedom," he said, as per MSN.

"Unfortunately for him, he knows that when Trent Alexander-Arnold is back from injury, he'll go straight into the team, meaning that Bradley isn't under any pressure when he plays.

"If Trent leaves Liverpool in the summer, the club would be absolutely fine with their replacements as they've got Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez, who are both great players."
