Real Madrid star makes big Mbappe admission

A Real Madrid star has now made a big admission about Kylian Mbappe after the player ended up staying at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old is set to see out the remainder of his current contract at PSG after he refused to trigger the one-year extension included in his deal.

The Frenchman once again seemed close to leaving the Parc des Princes for Madrid after he was frozen out of the French club's pre-season tour due to his refusal to trigger the extension clause.

However, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was eventually reinstated into Luis Enrique's squad, in a move that closed the door on him joining Real in the most recent window.

With the relationship between Les Parisiens and the player seemingly mended, reports suggest that he could be set to sign a new deal with the French club, although this remains unconfirmed.

Los Blancos star Dani Carvajal has now revealed that he and some of his teammates were expecting Mbappe to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu during the off-season.

"Did I ask [Real Madrid CEO] Jose Angel Sanchez about Mbappe? No, we were asking the French players," the Spaniard said, according to Madrid Universal.

"I thought Mbappe was coming to Real Madrid. We were asking the French players: 'Hey, does this guy tell you anything?'

"Did I think Mbappe would come this summer? I'm not going to lie to you and I'm going to tell you that they didn't talk, but there were all kinds of opinions in the pre-season after-dinners: 'Well, I think he's coming; well, I don't think so.'

"I thought he was coming. At the moment he did not travel to the Japan tour. At the moment when he was out of the tour, we saw his signing close.

"Then it seems that everything twisted a little and did not come."
