Real Star: I'm not surprised by Lewandowski's start

Real Madrid defender David Alaba says he is not surprised by Robert Lewandowski's impressive start to life in LaLiga this season.

Lewandowski secured the big move to the Camp Nou in the last transfer window after spending the last eight years with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The Polish striker has bagged an impressive 12 goals in 10 matches across all competitions for the Catalan giants, with nine of those coming in seven LaLiga games.

"I am not surprised with Lewy. I know him very well from my time in Munich," Alaba told Real Total.

"What he is doing in Spain I was able to experience first-hand for years in Munich. He is one of the best forwards in the world and he has demonstrated it time and again over the years, and he is showing that again this year."

Alaba, however, has backed his Los Blancos teammate Karim Benzema to win this year's Ballon d'Or.

"I don't even think that it is a question. If you look at last season, what he did is really incredible. I am genuinely grateful to have experienced it and to have been part of it, and to see him work every day," he added.
