Serie A outfit AC Milan have responded to reports linking the club with a move for Real Madrid's Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric.
The Croatian was heavily linked with a move to Milan's rivals Inter last season, but opted to remain in the Spanish capital.
Milan technical director Paolo Maldini met with Los Blancos last month to discuss the possibility of signing players, however he has revealed that Modric was not discussed.
"We never negotiated for Modric, but we've said to [coach Marco] Giampaolo this club are looking for good young players and some experienced ones," Maldini told a news conference.
"The growth of young players takes place through the presence of experienced players.
"Modric would be perfect here, but we've never negotiated for him."
Milan recently announced the arrival of defender Theo Hernandez from the Spanish giants.
