Dybala: I'm a world champion because of Mourinho

AS Roma and Argentina star Paulo Dybala has opened up about his relationship with coach Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old joined Roma on a free transfer after ending his seven-year stay at Serie A rivals Juventus.

Dybala has netted eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions this campaign, including the winner in Thursday's night Coppa Italia win over Genoa.

"Mourinho wanted me here so I'm delighted if he's happy with what I'm doing," he told Sky Sport.

"I'm World Champion also thanks to him.

"I will always give 200% for Mourinho and for all the fans. Mourinho is helping me improve every day."

Mourinho also reserved some special praise for the Argentine World Cup winner after Thursday's clash in Rome.

"Tonight I wanted to avoid extra time at all costs. I could have had some of the younger players come in – Volpato or Tahirovic – but I chose Paulo," he added.

"Paulo is the kind of player that makes the coach look good. He's something else, he's on another level."
