Coppa Italia match report Atalanta v Juventus 19 May 2021

No further than two changes from Juve saw veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and Weston McKennie restored, as Atalanta had Colombian Luis Muriel on the bench.

Buffon was put to duty three minutes from the start as he used a bit of footwork to keep a close-range strike from Jose Luis Palomino following a cutback by Duvan Zapata away from target.

However, Juventus made the breakthrough against the run of play on 31 minutes with a well-taken curling strike by Dejan Kulusevski following a supply on the inside-right by McKennie.

La Dea bounced back after eleven minutes when Ruslan Malinovskiy smashed a ball from Hans Hateboer through a number of players en-route to bustling the net.

Juventus targeted a swift start to the second half and were close from a floating cross by Juan Cuadrado, but McKennie nodded wide of goal.

The Bianconeri should've been ahead on 60 minutes from a smart attempt by Federico Cheisa following a one-two with Cristiano Ronaldo, but the woodwork kept him out.

Chiesa made up 73 minutes in after he took a nice first touch from the inside-left channel to find the bottom-corner following a reverse pass from Kulusevski.

It was the nippy attacker's last piece of action, as he exited duty for Argentine international Paulo Dybala at the same time.

Atalanta applied a lot of pressure before fulltime despite seeing Raphael Toloi dismissed from the bench after he vented at the man in the middle.

The night belonged to Juventus in the end, who managed to hold Lea Dea off to reclaim the crown they lost to Napoli last season.
