Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo became the first star to be bestowed with Serie A's Most Valuable Player award last weekend, and in doing so, became the first footballer in history to have the honour of being named the best player in England, Spain and Italy.
Ronaldo, 34, brought an end to his illustrious nine-year spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid when he sealed a €100 million (R1.6 billion) transfer to the Bianconeri in July 2018.
Many feel that Juve's acquisition of Los Blancos' all-time record goalscorer has proved a flop, given that the Italian giants essentially signed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to help win the UEFA Champions League, but failed after being eliminated by Ajax Amsterdam in the quarter-final stage of the competition.
However, looking at the Portuguese superstar's individual contribution in his maiden season in Turin, one could deem Ronaldo's signing to be an invaluable one.

Not only did Ronaldo score the only goal of the game against AC Milan to hand Juve their first title of the season – the Supercoppa Italiana – the former Manchester United superstar also had a direct hand in 32 goals (21 goals and 11 assists) en route to the Old Lady clinching their eighth successive Scudetto, which led to him receiving the first-ever MVP crown in Italy's top flight.As a result, Portugal's record goalscorer has now picked up the best player award in three of Europe's top five leagues.
Ronaldo was named EPL Player of the Season in 2006/07 and 2007/08, before clinching the MVP award in Spain's top flight during the 2012/13 campaign – which, coincidentally, was also the only season the accolade was awarded – as well as being named the league's best player in 2013/14.
With one Serie A game left to be played this season, however, Ronaldo is unlikely to finish 2018/19 as the Italian top flight's top goalscorer, which would have seen him become the first player to clinch the Golden Boot award in England, Spain and Italy.
Sampdoria talisman Fabio Quagliarella currently sits at the summit of the ranking with 26 strikes, while Ronaldo occupies second spot with 21 goals.
