Jose Mourinho reaches big milestone

Jose Mourinho celebrated an incredible career milestone during AS Roma's last-minute win over Sassuolo on Sunday night. 

In the Giallorossi's most recent match, the former Chelsea manager became the latest manager to achieve the feat of taking charge of 1 000 games.

He achieved this in no less than 21 years, and has won league titles in England, Italy, Portugal and Spain along the way.  

Roma went into that match with the aim of extending their winning run in the league, but found themselves on the verge of drawing against Sassuolo before Stephan El Shaarawy netted a last-gasp winner in the 91st minute.  

Mourinho could not contain his emotions as he was seen racing down the touchline to celebrate with his players after that strike.

In a post-match interview, the 58-year-old revealed how much his latest milestone meant to him.

"During the week, I lied to myself, telling everyone this was not a special game. I was trying to convince myself it was not special. It was a special match," he told Football Italia.

"It was a match with a special number for me, which until the last day of my life I will always remember this was the 1 000th game. I was terrified the eternal memory would be of a defeat.  

"It was an incredible sensation. It could've been 6-6, 7-7, Sassuolo could've won 2-1 as well, [Roma goalkeeper] Rui Patricio made a couple of incredible saves, we missed two open goals. It was an absolutely extraordinary match.  

"I did not feel 58 years old today, I felt 10-12-14 years old, the age when you start to dream of a career in football. It was the run of a child.   

"Maybe someone up there decided I deserved this memory for my 1 000th match."
