Juventus 'agree' deal with new manager to succeed Massimiliano Allegri ahead of 2019/20 season
Serie A champions Juventus have reportedly agreed a deal with Chelsea for Maurizio Sarri to become their new manager. Juve have been in search of a new head coach since confirming the exit of Massimiliano Allegri at the end of last season. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Lazio's Simone Inzaghi and Sarri emerged as the early front-runners but the City boss and the former Italy striker both ruled themselves out the running. Sarri is held in high regard in his homeland for his exploits with Empoli and more notably Napoli, where he created one of the most aesthetically pleasing sides - albeit with no silverware to show for it. And in a tumultuous season in London, he finally lifted his first major title in the form of the UEFA Europa League - which is set to be his only season with the Blues. According to BBC Football, compensation has been agreed between the two club's for a fee in excess of £5 million and that deal is likely to completed on Friday evening. Despite signing a three-year deal last July, he will become the ninth full-time manager to leave the club under Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Club legend Frank Lampard is expected to be named Sarri's successor in which he would work under challenging circumstances with the current transfer ban.
