Juventus break silence on Pep Guardiola 'approach'

Juventus have broken their silence on rumours suggesting that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will assume the role of head coach at the Serie A giants in the wake of Massimiliano Allegri's departure.

With Juve having parted ways with Allegri following a trophy-laden five-year stint at the club, speculation linking former FC Barcelona manager Guardiola with a move to Turin became the talk of the town after a journalist claimed that a deal between the former Bayern Munich boss and the Italian giants had been agreed.

Fabio Paratici, the Bianconeri's sporting director, has now categorically denied the reports, stating that no communication was ever made between the two parties, while also indicating that Juve will look to acquire a new coach before dipping into the transfer market for new players.

"I think we live in a strange world," he said, as per DAZN.

"We didn't have any contact. We never even thought about it because (Guardiola) is under contract. For a thousand reasons, it all seems very strange to me.

"We have clear ideas. We will act according to what the new coach's directives will be.

"Before we move on, we will wait, very calmly. We try to improve every year."
