Official: Olivier Giroud leaves Chelsea for AC Milan

Serie A giants AC Milan have completed the signing of Olivier Giroud from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

The Blues did exercise a one-year extension for the Frenchman at the end of last season, meaning the club would get a fee for his services rather than lose him for free.

Giroud has now decided to make the switch to the Italian top flight and will the number nine jersey for the upcoming campaign.

Giroud officially bid farewelll to the Chelsea supporters on Friday evening after he completed his medical in Milan.

"I'm starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in Fa Cup, Europa League and Champions league have been magnificent. Love Oli G."
