Mourinho has already given the club a shortlist of players he wants for next season as he looks to put Roma back among the elite clubs in Italy.

Il Messaggero says one of the six names on the list includes Portugal international Renoato Sancho, who has got his career back on track at Lille after a failed stint at Bayern Munich.

Mourinho is also said to be looking at raiding his former club Tottenham Hotspur for Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who featured quite prominently under Mourinho in North London.

Another Premier League star being linked with a switch to Rome is Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.

The Mexico international was in superb form before his clash of heads with David Luiz last year ended his season, but it remains to be seen when he is able to return.

The Portuguese tactician has been sacked at his last three clubs and he will be hoping to rediscover his the reputation that made him one of the best, but he will need a proper squad to do so.
