Just days after reigniting his feud with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku has shed more details on his physical clash with the AC Milan star earlier this season.
Lukaku and Ibrahimovic have been embroiled in a bitter war of words over the last 18 months which boiled over during Inter Milan's 2-1 Coppa Italia victory over their cross-town rivals in January.
During the heated clash, both players exchanged a string of insults before having to be physically separated by teammates and match officials.
The duo have since continued to aim jibes at each other social media, with Lukaku the latest do to so following Inter's league triumph, but the Belgian admitted that he regrets their previous clash.
"We were losing 1-0, I missed a goal, I was a bit angry and his words struck me," he told Corriere della Sera h/t Goal when asked about the feud with his former Manchester United teammate.
"I'm not happy with having reacted like this, but I'm not one who gets his feet on his head. I am humble and calm, I am a winner and I fight to the death for my teammates and for the victory."
Despite the obvious animosity between them, Lukaku revealed that he still believes that Italian football is lucky to have a player of Ibrahimovic's calibre in their midst.
"He is a great player, he has won everywhere he has passed, he has scored more than 500 goals," the Belgium international added.
"Man? Up to Manchester good value. We need players of this level in Serie A. He wants to win for himself, me for Inter, Ronaldo for Juve, now there is Mou at Roma: they are all good things for Italy.
"The level is raised, let's hope Inter win [the league title] again [next season]."
