Serie A match report Inter Milan v Lecce

Inter Milan put a ten-man Lecce to the sword with a 4-0 thrashing in their Serie A opener, with Romelu Lukaku getting on the score-sheet on Monday night.

Summer arrivals Lukaku and Stefano Sensi made their Inter debuts, with Stefan De Vrij forced out the line-up following an injury during the warm-up.

Inter made a strong start, but Lecce came within 12 minutes from profiting as Gianluca Lapadula had his shot cleared off the line after beating Samir Handanovic to a 50-50 ball. Lautaro Martinez missed a golden chance for Inter five minutes later when his header bouncing off the pitch and over the top from a cross.

Inter struck gold on 21 minutes after Marcelo Brozovic collected a cut back from Asamoah  to curl into the top corner. Sensi joined the party four minutes later with an individual bottom corner finish after beating two challenges a metre from the area.

The pace of the game inevitably fell into the Nerazzurri's hands afterwards, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.

Inter showed the same intensity, guile and urgency as the opening half, with Sensi and Matias Vecino pulling the strings. The visitors adopted a similar nature, giving the Inter defence a few concerns with deliveries in and around the area.

The hosts added to their tally on 60 minutes as Lukaku reacted sharply to Martinez's rebound to tap home his first for the club.

The visitors ended with ten-man in the final 15 minutes, as Diego Farias saw red for a reckless challenge on Barella.

Antonio Candreva put the visitors out of their misery in the final five minutes as his 35-metre pile driver sailed into the far corner, as Inter go top of the table after the opening weekend.
