Serie A match report Parma v Torino

Parma secured back-to-back Serie A victories after overcoming ten-man Torino 3-2 at home on Monday evening.

Veteran Gervinho led the host up top in a front-three formation, as Andrea Belotti, Cristian Ansaldi and Simone Verdi carried hopes for the Turin-based side.

First blood came from the home side in no less than two minutes after Dejan Kulusevski fired home Gervinho's delivery after poor defending from the visitors.

The lead lasted only for a couple of minutes -12 to be exact- after Ansaldi showed combined well with Verdi to finish beyond Luigi Sepe.

Torino were down to ten men on 29 minutes after Gleison Bremer conceded a penalty for a foul in the area, but Gervinho failed to capitalise as Salvartor Sirigu spared his blushes.

Belotti put his side ahead three minutes to halftime with a coolly taken spot kick after drawing a foul in the area which the Video Assistant Referee approved. Parma levelled right before the interval when Andreas Cornelius teed-up with his striker-partner Kulusevski for a comfortable finish.

Giuseppe Pezzella made way for Parma at the start of the second half, with Riccardo Gagliolo removed. The change sparked renewed belief as Gervinho went close with Sirigu following a through ball after five minutes, but the Italian reigned yet again as he parried for a corner.

From the corner, Hernani leaped ahead of the defence at the back post and headed against the top off the crossbar.

Hernani made way for veteran Roberto Inglese in the last 12 minutes, as Parma pushed strongly for the winner while the visitors hanged on. Ingelese put Torino out of sight as he fired the winner two minutes from time after the visitors failed to clear their lines.

The win steers the home side closer to the top-tier, with just three points off fourth place Napoli who got the better of Brescia on Sunday.
