Atalanta kept their Champions League dream alive after thrashing fellow top-four hopefuls Lazio, while Napoli got back to winning ways in the Serie A on Sunday evening.
Lazio 1-3 Atalanta
Atalanta moved one step closer to a top-four finish after seeing off Lazio 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in the lunchtime kick-off on Sunday.
Lazio made the perfect start through a third minute goal from Marco Parolo. But the Nerazzurri hit back in the 22nd minute thanks to Duvan Zapata.
The side from Bergamo went in front on 58 minutes through Timothy Castagne before an own-goal from Wallace on 76 minutes put another sword in Lazio's European hopes.
Parma 3-3 Sampdoria
Parma jumped to 14th spot after playing to an entertaining 3-3 draw at home to Sampdoria in a mid-table contest.
Marcello Gazzola found the opener on two minutes, but Samp replied on 28 minutes with a penalty from Fabio Quagliarella before Gregoire Defrel fired them in front on 38 minutes.
The visitors grabbed a third on 61 minutes with Quagliarella completing his double, leaving Parma to launch the come back through a penalty from Juraj Kucka on 67 minutes before Alessandro Bastoni nabbed the equaliser on 71 minutes.
Both sides ended with 10 men, with Omar Colley dismissed for Sampdoria, while Kucka received his marching orders at the death for the home side.
Sassuolo 2-2 Frosinone
Sassuolo came back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against second-from-bottom Frosinone at the Mapei Stadium.
Frosinone went in front on eight minutes through Paolo Sammarco before Luca Paganini added a second after 36 minutes.
Sassuolo halved the tally on 66 minutes through Gian Ferrari and Jeremie Boga restored parity on 77 minutes to leave the visitors in the drop zone.
Genoa 1-1 AS AS Roma
AS Roma's top-four hopes suffered a blip after enduring a 1-1 draw against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferrari.
A goalless first half was followed by a fiery second period, which saw Stephan El Shaarawy putting the visitors in front on 82 minutes.
A penalty at the death from Cristian Romero levelled up matters as the Romans fail to close the gap on third-place Inter Milan.
Napoli 2-1 Cagliari
Napoli secured spot on the table after coming from a goal down to see off Cagliari 2-1 at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Rossoblu were in front on 63 minutes through Leonardo Pavoletti after a goalless first half, but Dries Mertens levelled on 85 minutes to overtake Diego Maradona as the club's time top scorer.
Then into time added on, Lorenzo Insigne struck the winner from the spot, as in protestation of the spot kick awarded by the Video Assistant Refereeing team, Cagliari's Artur Ionitja also saw red.
