AC Milan kept their hopes of clinching a UEFA Champions League spot alive after cruising to a 2-0 victory over relegated side Frosinone on Sunday evening.
The visitors were unlucky not break the deadlock five minutes inside the second stanza after they were awarded a penalty, but Camillo Ciano's spot-kick was saved by Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The hosts eventually found the breakthrough seven minutes later through Krzysztof Piatek before Suso doubled the lead in the 66th minute to establish a two-goal cushion.
The Rossoneri moved equal on points with fourth placed Atalanta on 65 points, lying fifth by virtue of a lesser goal difference.
Empoli 4-1 Torino
Empoli kept the destiny of surviving relegation in their own hands after thumping Torino 4-1 in the penultimate match on Sunday afternoon.
Afriyie Acquah gave the hosts a good start as he opened the scoring in the 27th minute while Iago Falque levelled matters for Torino four minutes before the hour-mark.
Matteo Brighi restored the lead for Empoli in the 65th minute while Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Francesco Caputo sealed the three points to take Empoli one point clear of Genoa, who are occupy the third last relegation spot.
Parma 1-0 Fiorentina
Fiorentina could not officially wrap up their top flight status after they went down 1-0 against Parma in the penultimate match on Sunday afternoon.
One point would have mathematically confirmed relegation survival for Fiorentina but they were undone by an own goal from Gerson ten minutes before time that handed Parma all the three points.
Fiorentina are only three points clear of the relegation zone in 15th place but they have a far superior goal difference over Genoa, who are holding the third-last relegation place with 37 points.
Chievo 0-0 Sampdoria
Ten-man and already relegated Chievo held Sampdoria to a goalless draw in the penultimate match of the season on Sunday afternoon.
Chievo were dealt blow five minutes before the break as Federico Barba was red-carded, but they managed to keep the visitors at bay for the share of the spoils.
