Fifteen-year-old Bologna defender Wisdom Amey has become Serie A's youngest-ever player after making his senior debut earlier this week.
Amey took to the field as an 89th-minute substitute in Bologna's 2-0 league defeat to Genoa on Wednesday to make his first-team debut at the age of 15 years and 274 days.
In doing so, the promising defender broke the record set by Amedeo Amadei in 1937, which was equalled by Pietro Pellegri in 2016, by six days to become the division's youngest-ever debutant.
Shortly after Amey's introduction, Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic handed 16-year-old midfielder Kacper Urbanski his debut as well, and he was quick to praise the two burgeoning talents after the final whistle.
"Amey and Urbanski entered very well, they weren't afraid, I'm happy to have thrown them into the fray," Mihajlovic said after the match, according to The Sun.
Amey was born in Bassano del Grappa, Vicenza, in 2005, but is understood to be eligible to represent Togo, through his father, and Nigeria, through his mother, on the international stage.
