Marco Reus: No Dortmund contract regrets

Despite heavy interest from top clubs around the continent, the 26-year-old penned a new four-year deal with BVB as he committed his future to his hometown club.

And although finishing the season strong after a disastrous start, Dortmund could only manage a seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga standings, thus ruling out European football next season, while also losing long-standing coach Jurgen Klopp.

Yet Reus insists that despite their disappointing season, he has no regrets over his contract renewal.

"I do not have any regrets," he told Sport Bild.

"Why would I regret my decision to sign a new deal? I thought about it for a long time before I signed a new deal. I still feel exactly the same about it."

The German international scored seven goals in 20 League appearances this season, while also helping his side reach the final of the German Cup, where they lost 3-1 to rivals and Bundesliga runners up Wolfsburg.
