Gaurdiola is set to get his tenure at the Etihad underway when the Citizens host Sunderland in their opening league fixture on Saturday evening.
Despite two defeats to Bayern Munich and Arsenal, and a unconvincing penalty shootout win over Borussia Dortmund, in their recent pre-season friendlies, Erikssen is confident the Spanish tactician can do well at City and welcomes the Gaurdiola-Mourinho rivalry in Manchester.
"Guardiola will do very well for City in the Premier League, there is no doubt about that," Eriksson told Omnisport.
"He won everything in Spain and he won almost everything in Germany with Bayern Munich.
"I'm sure he is going to do a great job there. That's good for the Premier League and the city of Manchester. One team has Mourinho, one has Guardiola, so it's not bad!"
