Man City seal treble with UCL triumph

Manchester City have completed the famous treble after clinching the UEFA Champions League title with a 1-0 win over Inter Milan.

Ederson was restored between the sticks for the Citizens after Stefan Ortega was in goals during the FA Cup final and Kyle Walker made way for Manuel Akanji. For Inter, former City striker Edin Dzeko was given the nod ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

City took control from the onset and were unlucky not to go ahead inside six minutes when Bernardo Silva cut in from the right and left fly with a strike that flew past the upright.

The Serie A side were happy to allow City to have the ball for most of the first half, but they nearly fell behind in the 25th minute when Erling Haaland forced goalkeeper Andre Onana into a save at his near post after being played in by De Bruyne.

Pep Guardiola was dealt a blow ten minutes before the halftime break as De Bruyne was unable to continue after picking up an apparent hamstring injury, with Phil Foden brought on as his replacement.

Despite the loss of De Bruyne, the Citizens continued to dominate as the first half drew to a close but they were unable to carve out any clear-cut openings.

With Inter looking to trouble City goalkeeper Ederson in the second half, coach Simone Inzaghi decided to thrown on Lukaku for Dzeko ten minutes after the interval.

The Citizens were the first to get the breakthrough, after Silva did well to cut the ball back to Rodri, who did well to place the ball beyond Onana for his second goal of the tournament.

Inter went close to pulling themselves level three minutes later when Denzel Dumfires knocked the ball back into the area and found Federico Dimarco, who saw his looping sail over Ederson and hit the upright.

The Serie A side continued to push and they should have equalised on 89 minutes but Lukaku could only steer his header straight at Ederson from point-blank range before Ruben Dias was able to clear.

Confirmed line-ups:

Manchester City: Ederson, Akanji, Stones, Dias, Ake, Rodrigo, Gundogan (C), De Bruyne, Bernardo, Grealish, Haaland

Inter Milan: Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Çalhanoglu, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro Martínez.
