Ruthless Arsenal book UCL round of 16 spot

Arsenal 6-0 RC Lens

Arsenal booked a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages with a 6-0 victory over Ligue 1 side RC Lens and also clinched top spot in Group B.

Kai Havertz was rewarded for getting winner off the bench against Brentford on Saturday, with David Raya back in goal ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.

Havertz continued where he left off over the weekend with the opener on 11 minutes from a ball by Gabriel Jesus, who doubled the lead five minutes later with a composed finish.

It began to rain goals for the Gunners as Bukayo Saka made it three minutes apart before Gabriel Martinelli and captain Martin Odegaard joined in the party for a commanding first half lead.

Arsenal added a sixth goal in the second stanza courtesy of a penalty from Jorginho after a hand ball in the box, as the Premier League stormed to a dominant evening's work.

Galatasaray 3-3 Manchester United

Manchester United once again dropped points from a winning position in the UEFA Champions League as Galatasaray forced a 3-3 draw in Group A on Wednesday.

Following a jaw-dropping finish on Sunday against Everton, Argentine Alejandro Garnacho made the breakthrough before captain Bruno Fernandes followed to double their lead.

Galatasaray hit back through a free-kick by former Chelsea man Hakim Ziyech, leaving goalkeeper Andre Onana in sixes and sevens but Scott McTominay restored the visitors two-goal advantage early in the second half.

Ziyech got the host a second from another set-play and turned to supply Muhammed Akturkoglu to snatch the equaliser and keep the race to second spot alive as well as to the final day.

Bayern Munich 0-0 FC Copenhagen

Bayern Munich dropped points for the first in this season's competition following a goalless draw against FC Copenhagen in Group A.

Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel and Raphael Guerreiro were welcomed back from Bayern's win over FC Koln, with Diogo Goncalves picking out the changes for Copenhagen.

With Bayern already in the last 16, the Danish giants looked to keep their campaign alive after their dramatic last-gasp win over Manchester United in the previous round but had to settle for a goalless draw.

Real Madrid 4-2 Napoli

Real Madrid maintained a hundred percent record and bagged top spot in Group C with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Italian champions Napoli.

Brahim Diaz made a welcome return along with Dani Ceballos and David Alaba, while Napoli preferred Alex Meret in goal ahead of Pierluigi Gollini.

It was the Italian giants that grabbed the early lead when Giovanni Simeone poked in from an angled delivery in the danger area.

Madrid hit back instantly after Rodrygo took a deft touch from a delivery by Diaz and smashed into the top corner, as the man of the moment Jude Bellingham completed the comeback with a looping header over Meret.

The Italian champions were back on level following halftime through Cameroonian Andre Zambo Anguissa, but late efforts from young Nico Paz and Joselu got Madrid over the line and left Napoli's campaign in the balance.

SC Braga 1-1 Union Berlin

Ten-man SC Braga managed to overturn a halftime set-back to collect a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Union Berlin in Group C.

Braga were on the back-foot early on as Sikou Niakate was send for an early shower for a rash challenge after it gone for a review with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The Bundesliga side pulled ahead in the final three minutes before halftime through a bottom-corner finish from Robin Gosens, but Alvaro Djalo evened matters in the second half.

It's a welcome result for both sides, as it keeps their hopes of a place in the knockout stages alive with one final match day to go.

Sevilla 2-3 PSV Eindhoven

Sevilla surrendered a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 to Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven and exited the tournament without grabbing a win.

Renowned defender Sergio Ramos made a late run to the box and stabbed in a delivery from another Ivan Rakitic, with Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri added a second with a toe-poke finish in the second half.

Sevilla were down to ten players later on with Lucas Ocampos for a second bookable offence, as the visitors got one back when Ismael Saibari latched in Serginho Dest' cross.

There were a lot of late drama on either side, as own-goal from Nemanja Gudelj brought PSV level whilst a late finish Ricardo Pepi won the game, whilst Sevilla had Fernando dismissed for dissent and finished with nine players.

SL Benfica 3-3 Inter Milan

Inter Milan came from a three-goals down and bagged a thrilling 3-3 draw against SL Benfica, who finished with ten-men.

An understrength Inter were pegged back right after kick-off as former player Joao Mario snatched a first half hat-trick.

The Serie A giants got a lifeline in the second half through Marko Arnautovic, Davide Frattesi before a penalty from Alexis Sanchez salvaged a point, whilst Benfica had Antonio Silva dismissed for a foul on Nicolo Barella.

Real Sociedad 0-0 Red Bull Salzburg

Real Sociedad and Red Bull Salzburg failed to unlock one another in their penultimate clash in Group D and played to a goalless draw.

It was a very tight affair right from the get go and Salzburg looked to keep their hopes of Europa League spot alive, but were unable to get past Sociedad who qualified for the last 16 in the previous round.
